Pittsburgh Veterans Benefits Attorneys

If you served our country, we’ll fight to get the benefits you deserve

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers many benefits to those who have been honorably discharged from our country’s military service and their families. Sometimes veterans and their families are not aware of available benefits. And sometimes benefits are denied initially. The attorneys of Fingeret Law know what veterans benefits are available and how to fight for them when necessary.

Types of veterans benefits

Various benefits are available to veterans and their families, including:

  • Disability compensation
  • Disability pension
  • Medical benefits
  • Free healthcare for combat veterans
  • Dental benefits
  • Education and training
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Home loans
  • Survivor benefits

Helping you secure the pension benefits to which you are entitled

Wartime veterans or their survivors who have fallen on difficult times may qualify for a VA pension. Generally, you may be eligible if you were honorably discharged from service, served at least 90 days of active military service with at least one day during a war time period (some exceptions may apply) and meet one or more of these additional criteria:

  • Your income for VA purposes is below the maximum annual pension rate set by Congress
  • You are 65 years of age or older
  • You are permanently and totally disabled, regardless of age
  • You are a nursing home patient
  • You are already receiving Social Security disability benefits

Upon your passing, your surviving spouse or other dependents may also qualify to receive these benefits, based on your service record.

Filing for a VA pension or related benefits, and particularly determining whether or not you qualify, can be a confusing and time-consuming process. The attorneys at Fingeret Law have the experience working with the VA necessary to help you cut through the red tape and secure the benefits you and your loved ones deserve.
